Der Thai - meine Erfahrung

Thai´s werden/wurden als Jagdhunde in ihrer Heimat verwendet .Das heißt für den Thai-Besitzer das er unter Umständen mit dem Jagdtrieb Probleme bekommen könnte. Thai´s sind von Haus aus sehr Umweltorientiert sprich immer etwas unter Strom . Der Thai würde am liebsten ALLES auf einmal begutachten.

Von daher ist es unumgänglich das der Thai von Welpenbeinen an ein gute Sozialisierung bekommt. Wie ein langsames Heranführen an Situationen wie zb. mit der Straßenbahn zu fahren ,oder auch einmal entspannt abzuliegen bei einem Kaffeehausbesuch. Er muss lernen das sein Herrchen/Frauchen die Situationen entsprechend beurteilt und nicht er.

Allerdings es sei auch gesagt wer einen absolut gehorsamen Hund wie einen Malinoi oder Dt.Schäferhund such ,wird mit dem Thai nicht glücklich werden. Absoluter Kadavergehorsam ist nicht seine Natur. Aber viel "will to please" für seinen Menschen sehr wohl.

Da diese Hunde wahnsinnig intelligent sind lieben sie es mit ihrem Menschen Aufgaben zu bewältigen. Das kann zu Hause z.b ein versteckter Snackball sein den der Thai suchen & erschnüffeln muss. Oder beim Spaziergang Hindernisse zu bewältigen wie z.b auf einer Steinmauer zu laufen wo man auch gut Grundkommandos wie "Sitz" & "Platz" einbauen kann. Der Thai möchte intelligent beschäftigt werden. Bloßes "spazieren gehen" oder "Ball werfen" ist ihm zu langweilig.

Wichtig ist Fairness & Konsequenz ,dann funktioniert das Lernen auch . Mit Gewalt geht beim Thai nichts. Er wird je nach Charakter scheu ,ängstlich oder im schlimmsten Falle bissig & nach vorne gehend!

The Thai - my experience

Thai's are/were used as hunting dogs in their homeland, which means for the Thai owner that he could possibly have problems with the hunting instinct. Thai's are by nature very environment-oriented, i.e. always a bit under power. The Thai would like to inspect EVERYTHING at once.

Therefore it is essential that the Thai gets a good socialization from puppyhood. Like a slow introduction to situations such as taking the streetcar or lying down in a relaxed manner when visiting a coffee house. He has to learn that his owner judges the situations accordingly and not him.

However, if you are looking for an absolutely obedient dog like a Malinoi or German Shepherd, you will not be happy with the Thai. Absolute cadaver obedience is not his nature. But a lot of “will to please” for his human is.

As these dogs are incredibly intelligent, they love to accomplish tasks with their humans. At home, for example, this can be a hidden snack ball that the Thai has to find and sniff out. Or on a walk they can overcome obstacles such as walking on a stone wall where you can also incorporate basic commands such as “sit” and “down”. The Thai wants to be intelligently occupied. Just “going for a walk” or “throwing a ball” is too boring for him.

Fairness and consistency are important, then learning will work. Nothing works with the Thai by force. Depending on his character, he becomes shy, fearful or in the worst case biting and forward!
